SHOCK TIMER
SHOCK TIMER

SHOCK TIMER(A Shock Sensor)

The in-transit damage tracking capability, a feature not available before, will add to the quality of transportation, living up to the cargo owners’ expectations.

There are various causes for in-transit damage: inappropriate packing or, perhaps, careless or rough cargo handling. Sometimes the appearance of packing makes it impossible to see what actually took place inside, especially when the package is heavy, like the one designed for precision machinery. This will result in delay in discovery or reporting of damage, making it difficult to locate the cause of an accident, to assign liability for the damage and in the end, to improve overall transportation quality. Why is it then, that conventional shock or fall detection sensors do not help improve the quality of transportation? It’s because they do not tell exactly when the shock occurred. Without time information you can’t locate the cause of an accident or assign liability for the damage. Unfortunately, all conventional sensors do, is to simply tell whether or not it occurred. So here is SHOCK TIMER : a Shock Sensor developed to solve this problem.

If a shock that exceeds a certain magnitude level occurs, an integral timer stops, freezing the time point providing information of when the excessive shock took place during transportation.
(Timer resetting is not possible.)

The amount of time between activation and stopping due to a shock event. It tells you exactly when the accident occurred in terms of the point in time as measured from the moment the shipment left ware-house (timer activation). This information may be used for locating where the event happened, as well as assigning responsibility.

How to use Shock Timer

Remove the seal on the back and attach this Shock Timer to the equipment or the outside of a package. Shock Timer uses strong acrylic adhesive, so you can attach it to the surface of a wooden frame and it will not fall off. After attaching, write the start time to the Shock Timer and start it.

To start the timer, pull out the white sheet.

Installation
stallation If you are installing SHOCK TIMER on the outside of a package, be sure to install it near a corner of the package for best shock detection results. If you are installing it on a container or within a palletized load, be sure to attach it onto a rigid structural member for best results. Avoid installing SHOCK TIMER in a location that may become very wet or have standing water (eg. floor of a sealed sea container).

Select The G-Trip Level

You need to check the shock fragility level of the product being shipped. For details, please contact “SIANG-GU”, a transport expert, as shock level may vary substantially depending on the way packing is arranged for testing.

TYPE SHOCK LEVEL MODEL
SMALL SHOCK 25G±20%(10msec) A-25
MEDIUM SHOCK 50G±20%(10msec) A-50

Shock wave : an example
This example shows the shock wave as measured w-hen a 200 Kg wooden frame with an accelerometer was dropped from the height of 20cm.
